Clémence Vazard

From mixed media artworks to large-scale installations, Clémence Vazard deconstructs cultural codes to produce strong women portraits. As a witness to these women’s condition, she creates testimonial works of art to unveil the reality of the 21st century woman

The artist’ work is built on the tension between the deconstructed images and the power of genuine stories. With these portraits, Clémence Vazard alludes to self-questioning, physical and psychological confinement and self-investigation. Parallelizing paradoxes such as Intimacy/Universality, Subject/Object or Identity/Representation is a means to challenge our representation system which valorizes the physical and moral aggressions that women confront everyday.
